This is my submission for the  kakasaku Tarot contest. I got a little carried away as usual. XD




I chose The Empress. Wise and beautiful, the Empress represents patience, giving, and love. She is a nurturer, but her reversal can be jealous, possessive, and vengeful when angered.  Sound like anyone we know? Kakashi represents the Fool, unhappy in life, who supplicates himself before the Empress to seek her guidance, reassurance, and love. As soon as I saw the Empress card I had this picture in my head of Sakura as an ornate Japanese empress and Kakashi as the devoted shinobi who serves her. I decided to go with the antique sepia tone to keep with that classic theme.

wow...extravagant, luscious, so sensual... and very seasonal! how wonderful! the textiles are sumptuous; love the light playing on the varying, beautifully detailed jacquard of her outer kimono. the ruby-tailed dragonfly design on the roll pillow, perfectly positioned with its piping, is impressive, as is the blurry silk slubs of what appears to be a wide ikat design on her obi, and of course, her comb, like a crown. love the red, green and gold in a timeless garden of bronze and apricot.

my eyes are drawn to her facing knee, tucked under, and how that shows the lush silk is thickly padded. so cool. also, her line of sight to their clasped hands. lots of merry and bright. thank you.

thanks! i didnt think about the seasonal colors...just that sakura looks good in red and the jade accents match her coloring. all those different textures required about 30 different layers in photoshop, from the first sketch to the finished product it took about 18 hours. i should have known you'd know more about the little design details than i do; i really dont think about these things when i do them. i guess i'm accidentally talented. Lol.

Ooooh, baby, this is simply fantastic. I love it!

I love how Sakura's face has the make up (the lips especially, in that small, rose-bud mouth) of the Heian period, and the gown in a bit of the Edo period style. I loved it! :3
