I've only read what's been released in the hard copy manga of Vampire Knight, but I agree with you about Kaname. He reminds me of Takumi from NANA.

He IS like Takumi in a way. He does care about her, but that wont stop him from doing things that he knows would anger or hurt her (if only she knew) in order to acheive his personal desires. To me they are both the worst type of man, because you cant see them coming. They are charming and sweet when they want and there is nothing about them that raises red flags. You dont realize how bad they are until youre already sucked in. >:|
