Isn't it? Have you read or seen Atonement? If not you need to. NEED TO.

Btw, I finally sent your package today. You should get it probably Saturday.

Oh my god and then they have sex against the books, umph.

Atonement was (to me) just a bit too sad to be properly enjoyable but it was a very well-done movie. Haven't read the book, though.

It is really sad, but its still a beautiful story. And Ian McEwan is an absolutely brilliant writer, a true artist of words. I want to be him when I grow up. You should read it just to appreciate a mastercraftsman at work.

Another book in the similar vein of WWII romantic epic, that is probably my favorite book of all, is The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons. It's about a young woman living in Leningrad during the 1941-43 siege, where 3 million Russians died of starvation, Nazi bombs, and exposure to cold. She falls in love with a Red Army officer stationed at the Leningrad garrison. Love amidst war is one of my bulletproof kinks, and IMO its one of those perfect stories where a love story exists inside a gripping, epic drama.

Okay, both of those are totally going on my list.

Have you seen the film 'Horseman on the Roof?' It's love among a cholera epidemic and not a war, but I think you'd like it none-the-less. You really respect all the characters and the choices that they make. (And the hero is DAMN FINE.)
