Naruto Fanfiction Recommendation List

This is my Naruto fanfiction reccomended reading list. The list is mostly for my own reference, but I'm happy to share what I think are some of the best naruto fics out there with anyone who wants to read them. 

Things to Know About This List:

1. I don't list discontinued or abandoned fics, so others who read it won't be disappointed like I was. If a fic on this list goes without update for a year or is labeled abandoned/hiatus by the author it will be removed. I only read het fics. I also don't read high school or vampire fics, and "real world" AU's are very rare.

2. There are no ratings listed, but most are rated T-M, and many contain lemons. Regardless of the smut factor, I've found that higher rated fics tend to be more mature and have better plot and character development. Besides, sex happens, and I'm an adult that can deal with that. If you're not, or can't, then don't read them. 

3. I update the list periodically as I find new fics, and new entries will be marked in a different color. Completed fics are marked with an asterisk.

Thank you for posting this rec list, ive read many of fic on ur list but there a few I will be checking out.

Since uve posted so many recsill recommend one of my all time fav SasuSaku fics Schon. Its really dark and is full of smut but if u look pass all the adult situations there is a really intricate plot developing.

Have a read let me know what u think.

I read the fic. Its was interesting. It was kinda random, and Sasuke was ooc to me, more like I imagine the old Gaara would act. Also some of the wording used in the smuttier parts was a bit vulgar and porntastic for my liking, but Im interested to see how it ends. =)

I loved the first chapter of Perception. I liked the way you kept Itachi in character. I hate when people make him some sort of romantic guy that will seek Sakura's well being (when i read those kind of plots i just think "yeah, right, and that was the motive because he killed all his family").
He is not a nice guy. He is a psycopath (Well, I think that most ninjas are a little bit psycos, their job demand, to a degree, that from them). I hope that you update soon.

Fast Forwards, by twitch and spaz, is an interesting fanfiction... But I like more the sequel: Pause. The plot is not very original (there are a lot fics, where naruto or Sauske go to the past or to the future), but the way that they describe situations are great (The battle sequences are incredible). And I like the way they describe Sakura. There are very few Fanfics that doesn´t picture her as pathetic... that is a pity because is my favorite character.

Well, i will be waiting for the next chapter of Perception! :D

Well, I don't even remember how I stumbled upon your journal, but I'm most certainly glad I did. First because "Broken Bridges" is nothing short of amazing and secondly because I was in dire need of some good KakaSaku fics, thank you so much for the list, I'm sure I'll enjoy these, seeing as you seem just about as as picky as I am!!! And please, keep updating =)

oh yeah, and I forgot to add, "Duty Before Honor", "Fated" and "The Nature of the game" are, in my opinion, the Holy Trinity of KakaSaku. When I saw all of them (and in orange none the less) I knew I was going to like this list.

i cant possibly begin to tell u how grateful i am for this list im a kakasaku devotee through and through but as im sure you know ANY fics are hard to find much less decent fics so thanks so much for drawing then to my attention ive only recognize a couple of them so im looking forward to going through the list

Thank you for this list, I discovered it recently and found some really good fictions, especially Dirty Deeds and Fourteen Dates!

If we can recommend fictions, I would like to suggest Blind, by ObsidianSickle (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3371184/1/Blind). It's a Sasuke/Sakura fiction, not complete yet but updated frequently; the writer manages to describe the complex relationship between these two, and the way Sasuke slowly start to change his mind about Sakura.
ObsidianSickle has a pleasant style of writing, and the idea she based her fiction on is original (well, I haven't read any other story using this idea, in any case).

Thanks for referring me to your list! I'd forgotten about it--I've looked at it & read many of the fics from it before, but that was before I read Perception & Silver Lining, so I hadn't so much as glanced at the DeiSaku section. I think you may have converted me to a DeiSaku fan, although only in really well written fics. (And it will never outweigh my love for KakaSaku...)

Um... I was wondering if you could help me out with ff? I just started writing and the first time I uploaded the file, the words were all clustered. So i reuploaded it after double spacing on openoffice. But it's STILL the same. >< What should I do.

if you double space the original document, save and re-upload to FFN then it should stay separated. im not sure what the problemn would be unless its the format youre using. i always use MS Word, so im not sure how it works with other programs. if you still cant get it to work i would suggest trying a different document format.

Oh wow… just wow. I remember stumbling upon this list months ago, I think when you first put it together and I could have sworn I had commented upon it then, but I guess not. This is just fantastic! Once I have stable internet (moved and am stealing really bad wireless until I can get my own connection) I’ll be checking this list out! I’ve been looking for new (new to me is just as good as new) KakaSaku to read lately while waiting for people to update. :) This is just perfect!

On another note I’m completely flattered that my silly little fluff fic has made it onto your list along with a couple of my one shots. Thank you! I’m always thrilled and pleasantly surprised to hear people like my stuff. ^^; Thank you!

Thanks! the KakaSaku section is quite long, being my OTP, so it should keep you entertained for quite a while.

Its nice to take a break from all the angst and drama sometimes, and your fics do a good job of being light-hearted and romantic without going over into so-sweet-it-makes-you-gag territory. I look forward to the next update of Simple Things!(Theres actually another I plan to add, the new one about the festival. I have the link saved and will put it up with the next update)

I also wrote my first KakaSaku, a one shot for Christmas. If youre looking for something to read you should check it out! :D

I've just finished reading your only recommended in pink SasuSaku, and I have read a few fics from your list already so I think I'll be reading most of it soon! Especially KakaSakus - I have read VERY few of them (I think that duty before honor was the only one and it was dare I say fuckingamzingawesomeincrediblycompletelyrocking!). I'm much more of a fan of SasuSaku and ItaSaku right now, anyway (you actually got me to love, adore and worship ItaSaku), and I think yours list lacks a bit in SasuSakus - have you read angel-puppeteer's fics? She's like SasuSaku master out there.
And I totally recommend you Lady Hanaka's ItaSaku trilogy. It starts so lamely and illogically that I was seriously considering stopping reading (I'm still trying to figure out why Itachi did what he did to Sakura in few first chapters), but with every chapter the story it's getting better. And better. And better. And then it's so freakin' awesome that you can't stop reading, waiting for next chapters becomes a torture and I'm still twitching to read it all over again.

my sasusaku list is short because even though there are billions of fics for them, most i find are really juvenile or sakura is a weak doormat fangirl who lets sasuke treat her like shit and i cant stand that. as you probably noticed most of the fics i have for them are labeled "dark" because fluff and sasuke just dont go together. i have read a couple of angel puppeteers fics, i think i even have one or two recced that arent sasusaku. if i remember right i think her sasusaku are a bit too gory for me, but i will have to check again.

i think you will like the kakasaku fics i have here, they are my otp so im pretty picky about them. as for lady hanaka, ive read the first in her trilogy and part of the second. you used the words lame and illogical. i find those words to be an understatement when it comes to that fic. the only reason i read to the end was because i couldnt believe it could actually keep getting worse(like a train wreck).the OOCness and improbability of the plot blew my mind. sakura falling in love with her rapist, itachi giving anyone a puppy, and deidara turning into an emasculated teddy bear are the main reasons why i despise that fic. you say the 2nd and 3rd are much better, but because of the 1st and the basis for the entire plot, i cannot recommend them. perhaps she has learned and grown as an author since then, and if she writes a new, different story in the future i will take a look at it.

anyway, thanks for the recommendation nonetheless. the list will be updated soon with a bunch of new stuff, so be sure to check back, and i hope you get some good reading from it! :D

I've read The Window and it's amazing. It's almost hard to believe that so good stories can exist. SilverShine is a great author.

Concerning angel-puppeteer - all of her fics are SasuSakus. There are a few gory ones like Sanctuary of Seven or Strawbarry Tomato Lollipop, but not all of them, and if you don't like gore you should try The Uchiha Sweetheart, it's a comedy in theory, though it has a lot of drama going on, and the humor is quite particular, I don't know if you'll like it.

nope no neji/saku, shika/saku, shika/ino, sasu/hina, none of those wierd pairings that make no sense because their personalities dont fit. i dont care about crackness, but they should at least be compatible in some way. i support neji/ten but i havent read any fics because i really just dont like neji in general. i dont dislike him, but i dont find him interesting either. XD

Hi, I just wanted to say thanks for compiing this list! I have real trouble finding decent fics these days, so I really appreciate that you took the time to do this! As you're such a talented writer yourself, I trust your taste in reading material implicitly!

I'd also like to recommend a kakashi/sakura fic which I couldn't see on your list. It's called Fade In by hasu86 and is currently a work in progress. Perhaps you haven't read it or perhaps you just didn't care for it very much... But I just thought I'd suggest it anyway. The relationship aspect has been quite slow up until now, but for me that's a very good thing! No need to rush these things! Lol!
